Best foodie neighbourhoods across Canada: Vancouver

By Stephanie MacDonald

In this highly subjective list, we’re going to focus on the ‘hoods we feel have the most variety of types of food in highly rated restaurants, completely influenced by our own personal tastes. Vancouver has a wealth of different independent eateries from modest holes in the wall (our favourite) to high-end feasting for the wealthy and here are the foodie neighbourhoods that will keep your curiosity and your appetite piqued for the longest.

Kitsilano

Clockwise from top left: jarfulls of yum at Jamjar, oysters at Merchant's Oyster Bar, scallops at Absinthe Bistro and quesadilla at The Charlatan

While The Drive was formerly known primarily for its Italian cafes and sports bars (often one and the same), this eclectic neighbourhood is now home to great Ethiopian Food, pizza houses, Cuban restaurants and tons of funky bars and cafes. Our favourites are Jamjar (Lebanese), Merchant’s Oyster Bar, Absinthe Bistro and The Charlatan.
