Crest homes by Adera in Vancouver

There’s just no denying it: People love the North Shore. The proximity to outdoor recreation, the fresh air, the ever-expanding urban amenities – there is so much to see and do here.

So it’s hardly a surprise that barely a month after the grand opening on June 2, eager homebuyers have already snapped up more than 70 per cent of the homes at Crest. “Response has been so powerful that we released our second building within weeks of beginning previews,” says a clearly delighted Eric Andreasen, Adera’s vice-president of sales and marketing.

Unique Setting

Located on a lush, green cul-de-sac at East 8th Street and Lonsdale Avenue, Crest offers a setting that is truly one-of-a-kind. Surrounded by lineal parks, these two buildings wrap around a European-inspired courtyard with an outdoor couch and other seating, garden planters and an intriguing wall mural. This location puts residents within easy walking distance to the SeaBus as well as Central Lonsdale’s eclectic boutiques and restaurants.

“You see this kind of design everywhere in upscale European hotels,” Andreasen says. “Here it’s something quite different – a great added value at a very attractive price point. Suites facing the plaza have actually become some of our most popular homes, especially for first-time buyers.”

Ready to talk views? Crest has them – think the North Shore Mountains, Burrard Inlet and the downtown Vancouver cityscape. In fact, your toughest decision might be choosing which view you want to wake up to.

Luxury Wood

Crest will be Adera’s second residence built from cross-laminated timber (CLT), a mass timber product that’s a significant part of what is now affectionately known by Adera as Luxury Wood. “Wood is such a sustainable, renewable building product,” Andreasen says. “Many people don’t realize it, but in terms of strength, seismic stability and fire resistance, CLT performs as well as, if not better than, concrete built to code. And, besides, it just looks beautiful.”

Another surprising bonus is that these homes are quiet – really quiet. “Like all wood products, CLT naturally dissipates impact noises,” Andreasen explains. “And working in conjunction with our latest proprietary Quiet Home technology as well, Crest is going to offer some of the most peaceful homes yet.”

To prove it, the presentation centre includes two specially built rooms – one using conventional construction and the other incorporating CLT and Quiet Home design. At the press of a button, an annoying hammer begins tapping above. Andreasen says people are astonished when they realize that, unlike with a conventional structure, they can barely hear the hammer in the room built with Quiet Home technology – a clear case of hearing (or, more accurately, not hearing) is believing.

Adera Loves Bikes

Long known for ongoing philanthropic involvement in the communities where it builds, Adera is unrolling an exciting new program at Crest. Partnering with Cycling BC, iRide, Union Gospel Mission and North Shore Mountain Bike Association’s Trail Adoption Plan, Adera Loves Bikes will not only provide funding for up to 70 two-wheelers for under-privileged youth, it will even help teach those kids how to ride.

Andreasen, himself a cycling enthusiast, notes that biking is part of the North Shore lifestyle; it’s healthy, exhilarating, and a fantastic intergeneration activity.

Crest is located on the site of the North Shore’s original Telus switching station at 150 – East 8th Street (at Lonsdale). Be sure to ask about the special summer promotion: Your opportunity to customize your home with $10,000 features from Adera’s popular i.D. By Me upgrade program, plus a 15 per cent deposit for courtyard-facing homes (exclusions apply). Presentation centre and display home now open noon to 5 p.m. seven days a week on the northeast corner of 12th and Lonsdale. For more information, visit adera.com or call 604.980.0016.
