And, besides, it just looks beautiful.”

Another surprising bonus is that these homes are quiet – really quiet. “Like all wood products, CLT naturally dissipates impact noises,” Andreasen explains. “And working in conjunction with our latest proprietary Quiet Home technology as well, Crest is going to offer some of the most peaceful homes yet.”

To prove it, the presentation centre includes two specially built rooms – one using conventional construction and the other incorporating CLT and Quiet Home design. At the press of a button, an annoying hammer begins tapping above. Andreasen says people are astonished when they realize that, unlike with a conventional structure, they can barely hear the hammer in the room built with Quiet Home technology – a clear case of hearing (or, more accurately, not hearing) is believing.
