The best way to enjoy the beautiful Regina summer is to check out some great festivals and activities. This year, Regina is hosting a variety of amazing summer festivals that will cater to almost everyone. Here are a few of our favourites.

  1. RCMP Sunset Retreat Ceremony and Musical Ride (July 1-Aug 11 & July 30-Aug 2)

The RCMP is hosting a variety of events this year, but the two we’re most excited for are the Sunset Retreat Ceremony and Musical Ride. The Sunset Retreat hosts a variety of drills, including “the cadet marching band, a canon drill, the lowering of the Canadian flag, the March Past, and RCMP cadets performing dismounted cavalry drills.”

The famous Musical Ride is a must for patriots and horse lovers alike, with 32 officers performing a number of choreographed cavalry drills. No matter the event, you’ll get to see performances by our best Mounties, all done up in their famous red uniforms.

  1. The Regina Folk Festival (Aug 7-9)

Regina’s Folk Festival has steadily attracted more people over the years, and that growth has brought in bigger and bigger artists. This year is the most star-studded festival yet, with performances by Canadian superstars Blue Rodeo and the legendary Sinead O’Connor. There’ll also be performances by critical darlings as well, including Basia Bulat, The Sheepdogs, and Birds of Chicago. Come for your favourites, stay to discover something new.

  1. Cinema Under the Stars (July 8-Aug 19)

Come equipped with blankets, pillows, and a little picnic while you take in some family-friendly movies at Victoria Park. Every Saturday, Cinema Under the Stars will screen a fun family film, ranging from old favourites like Back to the Future: Part 2 to new classics like Cinderella. Be sure to come early for the pre-screening entertainment before settling down at dusk for the film.

  1. SaskTel Summer Invasion (Aug. 29-30)

End the summer right with Summer Invasion, a festival with a little something for everyone. Music lovers will have a chance to see Lil Jon and Canadian superstar Lights perform, and see some of Regina’s hottest talent compete in a battle of the bands. Families will have fun at the Conexus Family Zone, where there’ll be face painting and games for kids of all ages. And with daily skateboarding, wakeboarding, freestyle motocross, art, and food exhibits, there’s more than enough to do for everyone.
