The 2021 Georgie Awards: And the Winners Are…

Three was the magic number at the 29th Annual Georgie Awards. Competition was stiff as finalists vied for top honours in more than 50 categories at a virtual gala held on March 20th, 2021, and when the winners were announced, five companies tied as frontrunners with three of the coveted golds statues a piece.

As always, this year’s Georgie Awards were a showcase of innovation and dedication to craft with some extra challenges never before faced in the 29-year history of this competition. And, as always, the BC building industry showed the stuff they are made of. “In the midst of the pandemic, CHBA BC builder and renovator members from throughout the province continued to demonstrate their resilience, professionalism, and commitment to safe work sites,” said Neil Moody, CEO of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia.

The virtual gala was a sleek, entertaining celebration that effectively captured the excitement and enthusiasm of a live event in a more compact Zoom format. Finalists had logged in from offices or living rooms, ready to raise their glasses when the winners were announced. Often the kids were on hand too, eager to be part of an event they would rarely experience live. And like last year, at the mid-point of the evening, Destinique once again took to the stage delivering a sizzling, high-energy performance.

Honouring Excellence

Landmark Premiere Properties was one of two companies that counted two Grand Georgies among their trio of wins — garnering Multi-Family Home Builder of the Year and Marketing Campaign of the Year for their luxurious Foster Martin condominium residence overlooking the ocean in White Rock.

Two companies rocked the North Shore with three golds each. Twin Lions Contracting Ltd counted the prestigious Renovator Customer Satisfaction Award among their wins, while Shakespeare Homes & Renovations snagged two grands — Custom Home Builder of the Year and Residential Renovator of the Year.

No stranger to top honours, Vesta Properties was named Single-Family Production Home Builder of the Year — an award they’re already also assured of in the upcoming HAVAN awards — for their multi-phased Latimer Heights master planned community in Langley.

Also of note, South Surrey-based Zenterra Developments wowed the judges in the Provincial Award of Excellence in Housing Affordability with Fraser, a collection of family-oriented townhomes located in Langley’s Murrayville neighbourhood. Just up the street, new-comer Crew H Properties snagged Best Multi-Family Townhouse Development for Redwood Park while long-time participant, Miracon, struck gold in the Builder Customer Satisfaction category.

A wise person once said, “life is short so make it count.” The 2021 Annual Georgie Awards did just that. For a complete list of winners and finalists, visit georgieawards.ca.
