As the world around us continues to change and transform, we thought it only fitting to deliver some of the craziest housing trends set for 2016. Ranging from eco-friendly abodes nestled between lofty treetops, to futuristic feats of mankind, these properties are a vivid depiction of where the architects and lifestyle-conscious designers from around the world are getting their inspiration.

With the fight for housing affordability affecting so many highly populated areas, we're seeing more and more people flocking to hip, space saving designs like shipping containers in order to get the best bang for their buck. Take Seth Rodewald-Bates and Elisabeth Davies for example, a couple living in Carrollton, New Orleans who have made a set of rustic shipping containers into a comfy home that perfectly suits their needs. This 750-sq.-ft. structure boasts a 14-ft. ceiling and was built by Rodewald-Bates with the help of friends and family.
