Toronto welcomed a ton of new and exciting condo developments in 2014 – from On The Go Mimico, the first condominium directly connected to the GO transit system, to Smart House, a micro-condo that is emblematic of a new trend on the horizon. With all the new condominiums coming down the pipeline, there is a whole lot to look forward to in the upcoming years. Here are the top five condo launches of 2014.

1. Smart House

Smart House

Micro condos were a huge hit in 2014 and thanks to Urban Capital and Malibu, Toronto is now home to Smart House, the city's first micro-condo. Units range from 288 to 778 sq. ft., and are designed to maximize space and transform with specialized furnishings. For example, the sofa converts to a bed or a desk transforms into a sofa. If you're looking for an affordable space that is also cool and efficient, micro-condos are a great option! Watch the video for more information.

2. RC3

River City, developed by Urban Capital, has already garnered widespread attention. However, the third phase of River City launched this year and was deemed "the pinnacle of an already noteworthy development." In addition to its bold design, RC3 also offers some great amenities including, a 2,000-st-ft. gym and yoga centre, a reading room, a children's play space and a gold-tiled lap pool. After the success of Toronto's first micro-condos, Smart House, RC3 also includes Smart House-style kitchens in order maximize space in each suite. Watch the video for more information.

3. On The Go Mimico

On The Go Mimico is one of the most anticipated condo buildings to hit Etobicoke. The new condo project is the first and only condominium that is directly connected to the GO Transit system. The developer, Stanton Renaissance, has taken 'green' to a whole new level by integrating a geothermal-cogeneration hybrid system, which allow residents to save up to 30 per cent on utilities and maintenance cost over a number of years. On-the-Go Mimico is perfect for those who are on the go and looking to live in a luxurious condo that emphasizes sustainability. Watch the video for more information.

4. Lanehouse on Bartlett

Lanehouse-900x500

Lanehouse on Bartlett is a one of a kind condo and townhouse project coming to Toronto. The developer, Curated Properties, went above and beyond for Lanehouse's launch event. Using Yarn Bombing as the inspiration for the décor at the event was Curated Properties' way of paying tribute to the building's history as a yarn factory and symbolize the way in which they're reclaiming an old space. Instead of demolishing the old building and completely redeveloping it, Curated Properties decided to maintain the industrial look and feel of the building and incorporate it into the design of the building and units, as seen in the interior brick walls. 5. The Nest

The Nest on St. Clair West recently broke ground in the Hillcrest Village neighbourhood. The ultramodern building is distinct from any other condominium in Toronto with it's stepped design that offers a bird's eye view of the city. The building's amenities include a top-notch lounge area (both indoor and outdoor), a fully-equipped fitness centre, a doggy spa and much more. Watch the video for more information.
