Planes, Trains & Automobiles

This community is primarily a by-foot or by-bicycle for people who live in the area, however there is a lot of through traffic that commutes via 17th Avenue. Public transportation is fairly decent, with multiple buses departing the area regularly. Parking is very limited and is only on the street, with very few parking lots, so parallel parking skills are key.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

17th Avenue is full of great amenities. From plenty of schools, including Calgary’s oldest high school, the community also boasts numerous walk-in clinics and a nearby urgent care centre. Right in the heart of 17th Avenue is Tomkin’s Park, a great place to enjoy a cup of frozen yogurt or a cappuccino. In the summer, the park is filled with buskers, markets and festival pop-ups.

Dollars & Sense

This is a fantastic neighbourhood that brings people from all over the city to its great street full of vibrant activity. If you prefer peace and quiet in the evenings and weekends, however, you’ll want to move further out. This street gets quite loud and has a party atmosphere, especially during the summer months.
