The western edge of the neighbourhood runs down Leslie from the 401 to York Mills and down Bayview from York Mills to The Bridle Path.

Lifestyle

This friendly, relaxed, spread out neighbourhood has a strong sense of community, sometimes feeling like a series of small villages within the larger city. It is a relatively quiet area with a definite multi-generational vibe - there are plenty of schools and parks, but there are also retirement homes, and three generations often share the same household.

The Vibe

Sunnybrook is a large, family-oriented, and largely residential neighbourhood. It has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with a strong sense of community. The area is fairly quiet with the exception of the Shops at Don Mills, a popular shopping spot with some stores and restaurants that remain open until late hours. There are lots of parks and green spaces which are popular with joggers, cyclists and families with children.

Meet the Neighbours

South of York Mills, Sunnybrook has a relatively high proportion of people over the age of 65, while north of York Mills there are more younger people between 15 and 24. Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Sunnybrook is a very easy neighbourhood to drive in. The Don Valley Parkway on the eastern boundary and the 401 in the north provide fast, easy routes to other parts of the city. Multiple bus routes run through the neighbourhood, including several 24-hour routes. The Oriole GO rail station is at the northwest corner of the neighbourhood, near Leslie and the 401.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

Sunnybrook is a friendly neighbourhood, with lots of schools and parks. It is a large neighbourhood and it can take time to get where you’re going. Many of the residential streets are crescents and cul-de-sacs, rather than a grid pattern. It can take a while for pedestrians to walk out to the main street to access public transit, and it can also be confusing.

Dollars & Sense

Sunnybrook is a mid-priced neighbourhood. Real estate prices range from average to above average, both for renters and buyers. Shops tend to also be average to above average priced, with some high-end and some mid-range stores. The Shops at Don Mills has a higher concentration of pricier stores, while plazas and shops outside of this concentration are often less expensive.
