4 no-mow, grass free lawns we love
August 18, 2015
It wasn’t too long ago that I saw my neighbour shovelling snow off his front lawn in the dead of winter, only to reveal a vibrant green patch of artificial grass below. Snickers were followed by serious wonder. "Is he for real? What is he doing??" Well, it appears he was helping to plant the seed for a new movement of grass free lawns – a booming business today.
Whether you’re under an imposed watering ban, or on a flat-out no-mow binge, grass free lawns are certainly growing in popularity – if not in nature. Here are four grass alternatives we love:

People used to spend their weekends trying to figure out ways to keep creepers from invading their grass. Pulling, plucking, pesticides... Countless weekends wasted. That is, until they realized they made for a great grass alternative. Hardy, drought-tolerant and slow-growing plants like fescue, clover, ryegrass and even moss will give you the green you crave, without the maintenance.
