Toronto's undulating skyline gets carved out a little more each day by the influx of new condos on the horizon – those taking shape in concrete and glass, and those breaking boundaries in the concept phase. And in a sea of new condos, their creators have to make them stand out from the crowd. Here's our round-up of five curvaceous, bodacious silhouettes that are sure to catch your eye:

New Condos One Bloor Great Gulf

#1

The condo: One Bloor
The developer: Great Gulf
The architect: Hariri Pontarini Architects
A few words: When viewed from a distance the shape is subtle, but stand at its base and look up to find a clean, modernist aesthetic with a wave of balconies and twisted terraces, lending a playful look.

New Condos 11 Wellesley Lanterra

#2

The condo: 11 Wellesley
The developer: Lanterra Developments
The architect: KPMB Architects & Page+Steele/IBI Group Architects
A few words: The design was inspired by Finnish modern architect, Alvar Aalto and his iconic sculptural vase design.

New Condos Totem Worsley

#3

The condo: Totem
The developer: Worsley Urban Partners
The architect: RAW Design
A few words: Straying from the typical "cookie-cutter" condo, a series of stacked, staggered boxes promises a dramatic, thoughtful addition to the Yonge-Wellesley neighbourhood.

New Condos RC3 Urban Capital

#4

The condo: RC3
The developer: Urban Capital
The architect: Saucier + Perrotte
A few words: This asymmetrical design has been appropriately dubbed 'extreme architecture' – and with a quick glance, is there any doubt? The staggered balconies are pushed out and pulled in for a cool 'dresser-drawer' effect.

New Condos Bazis Exhibit

#5

The condo: Exhibit
The developer: Bazis, Metropia & Plaza
The architect: r. Varacalli Architect Inc.
A few words: Despite taking shape as a series of cubes, the architect thought outside the box, so to speak, when he skewed each of the four volumes of the at a slightly different angle, framing unique views of the city around it.
