Alberta’s best and brightest among 2020 BILD Awards finalists

Through the extraordinary circumstances facing Alberta’s homebuilders this year, the cream always rises to the top. The 2020 BILD Awards honour its members and their contributions in bolstering confidence in the provincial industry and helping forge the path forward, as they announced 82 finalists for this year’s historic event.

For the first time, the provincial BILD Awards, usually celebrated in Jasper, will be held online on September 10. A total of 230 submissions came in from across Alberta to compete for the awards. Edmonton region has 40 finalists, followed by Calgary region at 32. Lethbridge and Central Alberta region each have five finalists in the running for provincial awards.

Heading the list is Edmonton’s Milestone Group of Companies with eight nominations. Brookfield Residential also has a total of eight for both its Calgary and Edmonton divisions. A local custom builder, Accent Infills, has also done well with six nominations. While Canada Lands Company (CLC) is also looking to keep its winning streak for Village at Griesbach, which is up for awards for Show Home Parade of the Year and Best Community Feature.

The Milestone Group of Companies it seems is continuing its banner year that saw the young enterprise become the first Canadian homebuilder to win all three major local, provincial and national awards in a single year. And it all started with clinching the top award at the BILD Alberta (under its Marcson Homes banner) last fall. But it never really was just about the awards for them.

“Ultimately we have a team of remarkably talented collaborators that every day show up for our customers,” Milestone Creative Director, Carla Weinmeyer tells Edmonton New Home + Condo Guide.

“We strive to build better lives for our homeowners who rave about our uncommon floorplans offered at a fair price. We are incredibly proud of these awards, but then we get back to work striving for the real accolade - a satisfied customer,” she adds.

Brookfield Residential is proud of all it has accomplished in both its Edmonton and Calgary divisions, especially during these challenging times, says Trent Edwards, Brookfield Residential COO, Alberta.

Accent Infills may be a small firm compared to the heavyweights in the finalist list, but it has the heart of a winner.

“We are a small and rather quiet bunch. Our biggest reward are happy homeowners who invite us back to celebrate. We don’t expect any accolades, but the recognition from our peers has been more than humbling. Being a part of these awards is yet another reason to sincerely thank our creative team and loyal suppliers for leading us through this unprecedented year,” says President and GM, Matt Kaprowy.

CLC is focused on innovative and progressive urban village built with community in mind, and its Village at Griesbach is the ideal example. It had won for best community in 2019 and is again up for major awards this year.

“We are proud of our previous win as 2019 Best Community in Alberta, and we are pleased to be nominated in the community feature category this year.
