And the Winners are... The HAVAN Awards for Housing Excellence hosts a fun and interactive online event

The online 2020 HAVAN Awards for Housing Excellence were a rousing success. All the nominees, sponsors, and many members of the interested public, joined into the interactive platform where they were able to watch the awards in real time, mingle in different chat rooms, and talk to the press. Streaming live from an opulent home in North Vancouver, special guests shared their well wishes, including the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Honourable Selina Robinson, and BC Housing’s VP and Registrar Wendy Acheson. The Scott Riddell Band played live sets, viewers participated in the Best Dance and Best Dressed competitions, and the four winners of the Predict the Winners Game were announced to round out a very fun and interactive online Gala.

Miracon Developments Inc. collected a total of five wins, including two Grand HAVAN Awards for Best Residential Community: Single Family for SOUTHCREST, and Grand HAVAN Award: Single-Family Home Builder of the Year.

“The awards are an incredible opportunity for our organization to celebrate the many talented builders, renovators, and designers in the home building industry”, says Miracon Vice President Ryan O’Shea. “It is always an honour to be recognized by your industry peers and by the Home Build Association of Vancouver. There are so many talented builders and renovators operating in the Greater Vancouver area that we take great pride in even being named a finalist. The recognition we receive from the industry is a direct reflection of the hard-work and commitment of the entire Miracon team who work tirelessly to build exceptional quality homes and to create a memorable experience for each of our home owners”.

Other Grand HAVAN Award winners included Park Ridge Homes Inc. for Best Residential Community: Multi-Family, and Zenterra Developments Ltd. for Multi-Family Home Builder of the Year. “Zenterra Developments winning a HAVAN Awards showcases years of hardwork, dedication and drive to build a superior community for our buyers”, explains Derek Fenton, Zenterra’s Development manager. “From the quality, craftsmanship and warranty, we want our buyers to know that they are buying from an award-winning builder/ developer”.

The HAVAN Awards also recognize the diversity of the building industry, including custom home builders and renovators, interior designers, marketing strategies, innovation and energy efficiency.

Reilly Novak is a custom builder who really enjoyed the evening. “I was a bit sceptical of the online event at first, but I was really pleasantly surprised,” he says. It certainly helped that Novak Contracting & Construction Ltd. won in two categories; Best New Kitchen: $50,000 - $99,999 and Best Master Suite, for his project, “Outside In” in Surrey. “It was quite a night. I was really over the moon at the two wins.” Being a dad of three with one more on the way doesn’t leave much time to go to events, so the online format was actually convenient for Reilly. “It was nice to chat with, and congratulate, the other builders as well. This is such a talented group of people, so it’s really a validation of all the hard work that we all do.”

Ron Rapp sums it up when he says, “The HAVAN Awards are a recognized brand within the residential industry, and one to trust.”
