Best foodie neighbourhoods across Canada: Winnipeg

Although Winnipeg was deemed the slurpee capital of world, it has a lot more to offer than a chilly beverage – especially when it comes to food. From Brazilian cuisine to sushi joints and even pop-up restaurants, Winnipeg is never short of interesting culinary options. In fact, it is said that Winnipeg has more cafes and restaurants per capita than any other major city in Canada (Take that Toronto and Vancouver!). But where exactly can foodies find the best eateries in the city? We've narrowed our list down to the top five foodie neighbourhoods in Winnipeg.

Like most downtown neighbourhoods, the area is dotted with a vast array of restaurants, all located in close proximity to one another. Downtown Winnipeg is one of the best locations to sample dishes from around the globe.

Popular hotspots

  • Smith: Chances are you'll experience some indecisiveness when you look at the menu; there are so many delicious options, you may have trouble choosing just one dish. One of the best dishes is the Canada prime ribeye with bone marrow butter.
  • Prairie 360: Who doesn't love a restaurant with a view? Prairie 360 is a revolving restaurant that has become a tourist attraction for the city of Winnipeg. It boasts a quaint atmosphere, delicious food and unparalleled views.
  • Stella's: With multiple locations throughout the city, Stella's has become a hotspot for breakfast food. One of the best items on the menu is the maple caramel french toast.
