Bijou on Bloor - jewel on Bloor Street West

Bloor West Village is a gem of a neighbourhood – and now there’s a residential jewel of a condo project coming to this desirable area.

Plaza’s Bijou on Bloor will be a 12-storey boutique building in the heart of the established Bloor West area, renowned for its excellent schools, popular retail shopping district, and vibrant food scene. Beautiful High Park is just a short walk away.

This west end urban neighbourhood is characterized by wide, tree-lined streets and older homes, many with welcoming front porches. What has been lacking in the area are housing choices that bridge the gap between lowrise homes and highrise suites – until now.

Bijou on Bloor will fill that niche, offering intimate, upscale midrise living just steps from the subway. The contemporary, stylish building has been designed by Quadrangle Architects to complement the surrounding residential neighbourhood.

“Bijou will be a little jewellery box on Bloor West, the fashion district of Canada,” says Scott McLellan, Plaza senior vice-president. “It’s an existing vibrant neighbourhood but close to the downtown core. It’s really a unique place.”

The Plaza team worked closely in collaboration with the Bloor West community and the city, and the result is an intimate building that honours the integrity of the neighbourhood.

Each aspect of Bijou on Bloor has been thoughtfully planned with quality at the forefront. Its interiors and amenities are modelled after five-star hotels. Many suites have private terraces and views to the north which will look out over the green canopy of surrounding streets and the Humber River Valley. South-facing views take in Lake Ontario and the CN Tower.

Mature homeowners who currently live in the area will have a downsizing option without having to leave their beloved neighbourhood. It’s also an attractive choice for young professionals, whether new to the area or who grew up there and love Bloor West Village.

Plaza met with people living in the neighbourhood who are thinking of downsizing to hear what they wanted and the amenities have been planned to reflect their wants. The building will boast an indoor pool adjoining a second-floor indoor-outdoor terrace overlooking the neighbourhood. Residents will also enjoy use of a fully equipped fitness centre, and can enjoy socializing or entertaining in the lounge with bar or private dining room. A 24-hour concierge will attend to their needs and there’ll be no waiting to get to your suite with three high-speed elevators.

Suites are large, averaging 900 to 1,000 sq. ft. with prices starting in the $600,000s. The smaller suites include Miele appliances, while the larger units, priced just under $3 million, are equipped with Wolf ranges and SubZero refrigerators.

Plaza is one of the GTA’s most experienced residential construction and development companies, with more than 10,000 suites completed or under construction since its inception in 1982. The company is renowned for its innovations in the condominium market, the quality of construction and superior customer service. In 2018, Plaza was named High-Rise builder of the Year at Tarion’s annual Homeowners’ Choice Awards for excellence in customer service.
