BILD Calgary Region saluted the individuals who help make the organization strong at its annual general meeting last month, where new board members and chair for the 2019-20 year were also announced.

“Simply put, BILD Calgary Region wouldn’t be able to be as effective and prominent without the hard work of our dedicated volunteers,” says CEO Brian Hahn. “Their commitment to our committees and events is an invaluable resource to the work we do every day while ensuring our advocacy remains as in touch with industry concerns as possible.”

“Our volunteer opportunities are diverse,” he says. “Volunteers are able to participate in one of our committees, assist at events, judge submissions for the annual BILD Awards or serve on our Board of Directors.”

More than 700 hours is volunteered by more than 500 volunteers every year and members work tirelessly for the betterment of the association and the industry, whether at city hall lending their expertise, organizing and planning special events, promoting the industry, or supporting the association’s many activities.

“Our association’s success is linked directly to the dedicated volunteerism of our members,” Hahn adds. “BILD Calgary Region is our volunteers, and they make up the backbone of what our association does.”

BILD Calgary Region recognized their outstanding dedication, leadership or expertise by honouring milestone achievements for years of service, presented to the following:

An exceptional milestone achievement was also recognized – Bob Nobes, who has continually been involved as an active volunteer with the association for 37 years. He is a past chair and currently sits on the Economic Advisory Committee.

“Bob is not BILD’s longest serving nor oldest freestanding volunteer,” Hahn says, “but he comes very close.”
