Interior Trends Revealed

HomeFest, GTA’s latest festival style event is launching this Friday and they’ve partnered with Booking.com to bring you the top decor trends inspired by some of the most popular tourist destinations around the world, as voted by Canadian travellers. Vacay-inspired interior trends can easily be recreated at-home. Get ready to bring in all the best design elements from the most beautiful vacay spots you know and love.

1. Mediterranean Blues

The whites and blues of Santorini are the inspiration behind this timeless style. This look inspired over half of Canadians (52 per cent) with their home decor ideas. Textured tiles, natural fabrics and terracotta flooring are all key elements for transforming your home into a seaside paradise.

2. Scandinavian Simplicity

We’ve all seen elements of this utilitarian style in homes everywhere. A whopping 43 per cent of Canadians were inspired by the clean lines and blonde woods of this style when it came to decorating their own homes. Complete the look with lots of natural sunlight to embrace your inner minimalist.

3. Country Farmhouse

Embrace rustic materials like chunky timbers, hardwearing woods and stone floors for this interior style. The country farmhouse look inspired 43 per cent of Canadian travellers, bringing on feelings of warmth and comfort. Meant to be used and weathered, the farmhouse is chosen for its romantic and nostalgic qualities.

4. Japanese Zen

Over a third (34 per cent) of Canadians were drawn to the purposeful functionality of Japanese Zen. This style embraces the form and function of every object, set in warm and natural tones. Straight lines and perfectly manicured foliage give this look a calming tone for the ultimate relaxation-seeker.

5. Chic City Style

The peak of urban luxury, this trend features floor to ceiling windows, exposed brick and hardwood floors. The look is complete with open floor plans, solid furniture and unique conversation pieces. With over a quarter (27 per cent) of Canadians choosing it, this interior style is a must-have for any travelling socialite.
