Every now and then it's nice to get a glimpse into the real estate world of the rich and famous. Here is a round up of a few of our favourite celebrity homes either on the market or recently sold, including Elvis Presley's Beverly Hills home, Tommy Hilfiger's NYC penthouse and Bob Hope's UFO estate.

Elvis Presley's Beverly Hills Estate

Elvis and Priscilla purchased this French Regency home for $400,000 back in 1967. Fans have been visiting the estate for years, writing messages to Elvis on the front gate. The 5,400-sq.-ft. property is located on the popular star-studded street known as “Billionaires Row,” and boasts a guest house, large motor court and a pool terrace that offers city and ocean views.

Many renovations have taken place since Elvis "left the building," including an additional laundry room, and resurfaced pool and spa. The home's interior boasts high ceilings, hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors to each terrace. The home has a warm interior, with skylights and fireplaces located throughout.

The estate is currently listed at $30 million, and it'll likely be a hit with fans who also happen to have a few million in the bank.

Tommy Hilfiger's NYC penthouse

As one of the world’s most well-known fashion designers, there’s no denying that Tommy Hilfiger has impeccable taste. And judging by his plaza penthouse, he not only has a keen eye for clothing, but for real estate as well. In 2008, Hilfiger bought two units in Manhattan’s Plaza hotel for $25 million. Over the course of three years, he and his wife spent $17 million in renovations and connected the two units to create one extraordinarily large penthouse. Located on the 18th and 19th floors, the 6,000-sq.-ft. penthouse features a terrace overlooking central Park, a grand staircase and beautiful decor that includes a collection of Andy Warhol portraits and antique furniture and accessories once owned by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

The Manhattan penthouse was first listed for $80 million in 2013. However, after three years on the market with no buyers, the penthouse was recently relisted at $58.9 million.

Bob Hope's "UFO" estate

Bob Hope had an impressive resume – he was an actor, comedian, athlete, dancer, and singer. And by the looks of this estate resembling a UFO, he also had a unique taste in housing.

John Lautner designed the home for Bob and Dolores Hope in 1973. The 23,000-sq.-ft. features a bold undulating roof mirroring a concrete spaceship, with open spaces for skylights offering natural lighting. Additionally, the six-bedroom, 13-bathroom home also includes a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, pond, putting greens and tennis court.

The home struggled to find a buyer for years; it was first listed with a hefty price tag of $50 million in 2013, and went unsold for three years. The price was continuously axed, and was most recently listed at $25 million. However, it turns out that a UFO-shaped home is only worth $13 million, according to the recent buyer, Ron Burkle, co-founder and managing partner of a private equity and venture capital firm.
