One of the more enjoyable parts of having a home is being able to choose its colours. Some prefer the clean, bright airiness of all white, while others prefer the gothic drama of rich, dark reds, blues, and blacks. If you’re looking to impart your personality and style to colour your home, check out these ideas.

White, off-white, pale gray, and beige

White

These are considered to be neutral colours and tend to impart a clean and organized feel. White especially can make a space appear larger. These colours are also remarkably versatile, as you can change your furniture and accessories anytime without worrying about clashing.

Yellow

Yellow

Yellow hues radiate cheerful confidence and really brighten up a kitchen or hobby room. Throw in a bit of white or blue trim to add quaint charm.

Orange

Orange

Orange and coral colours are like yellow on caffeine. They also radiate cheerful confidence and adventurousness. Try them in the bathroom or a playroom to add some vibrant energy.

Pink

Pink

Pink is a sweet, soft, and romantic type of colour. Varying shades provide different intensities of the vibe, and this colour is charming and relaxing in any room.

Red

Red is bold, dramatic, and passionate. Add lush sensuality by using a darker wine colour. Paired with a dark gold trim and subdued lighting, rich burgundy makes an excellent background to display wall decor.

Purple

Purple

Purple is a fun and creative colour. Paler shades are lovely in any room, and vivid shades of violet make for dramatic playroom walls. Like burgundy, a dark, rich purple wall provides a luxurious background colour in a gallery.

Green

Green

A powerful, vibrant, and refreshing colour, pale shades of green are elegant in kitchen and living rooms, and darker shades are dramatic, especially as trim colours.

Blue

Blue

Classy, serene blue in any shade is a versatile colour, both indoors and out. Bright shades enliven any room, and blue-gray shades are elegant when used as exterior colours. Pale blues provide a soothing vibe in bedrooms.

Black

Black

A powerful shade, black is pure drama. Strong and elegant, it is a stunning exterior colour, especially on Victorian-style houses. Used indoors, it makes a terrific contrast with white or gray.
