Copperfield: Calgary’s hidden gem

Finding a brand-new home in a well-established community typically isn’t easy to do, or easy on your finances. With inner city, infills you often compromise on space and price. With new builds, you’re often on the outskirts of the city and potentially living in a construction zone for years.

Copperfield by Hopewell Residential has been around since 2002. All of the schools have been built, the landscaping is complete, programs and amenities are established, and you’ll find a friendly community of neighbours here. Surprisingly, you can also find brand-new homes that won’t break the bank.

Shopping abounds

Nestled beside McKenzie Towne and New Brighton, Copperfield has easy access to all of the amenities in these communities. Plus, Copperfield is conveniently located between two major retail hubs in the southeast. To the north is South Trail Crossing and South Pointe on 130th Ave. SE, and to the south is Seton’s growing retail and entertainment district.

Right within your neighbourhood you have the convenience essentials, fast food and professional offices along McIver Boulevard. For quick shopping trips, you also have the McKenzie Towne Centre along High St. SE and McKenzie Towne Ave. SE, as well as Mahogany Village Market off of Mahogany Plz. SE.

Schools for all ages

A whole range of education options are a short distance from Copperfield. With two elementary schools directly within the neighbourhood, kids can walk to and from school. Junior high and high schools are a short bus ride away, and two colleges are located a 15-minute drive away.

Getting around

Copperfield is near all the major SE traffic corridors. Living here, you’ll enjoy easy access to Stoney Trail, Deerfoot Trail, 52nd St. SE and Highway 22X. Bus routes 151 and 153 connect you to Calgary’s transit system and once the Green Line LRT is built, Copperfield residents will enjoy easy access to the C-Train line with a future stop planned for McKenzie Towne.

Relax and play

Three ponds throughout the community add serenity to the neighbourhood, and you can stroll around easily with an interconnected system of pathways, parks and playgrounds. Copperfield also has a community centre with tennis courts and basketball in the summer and an outdoor skating rink in the winter.

A short drive away, you have Sikome Lake for a hot summer day with the family, McKenzie Meadows and Blue Devil Golf Club to work on your swing. With convenient access to Highway 22X, you are only about an hour away from a mountain escape.

Copperstone

The latest and final addition to the Copperfield community is Copperstone, a master-planned neighbourhood by Vesta Properties offering single-family lane homes, front-attached garage homes and townhomes. On select front-attached garage homes, homebuyers have the option to have a legal basement suite built right into their brand-new home, a convenient mortgage helper without any extra reno work.

Copperfield’s Copperstone is the last new neighbourhood in the southeast inside the ring road, yet it seems to be overlooked as new communities grow south of 22X and house hunters assume they need to drive farther out for the new-home deals. Save yourself some commute time and the inconvenience of buying in a brand-new community and check out Copperfield for yourself.
