Francena DeFreitas and Ron Murdoch are seasoned homebuyers who own a 3,000-plus-sq.-ft.-home in Oakville, and recently purchased a condominium suite at the first phase of Valera, Adi Development Group’s award-winning new community in Uptown Burlington. “We realize it’s good to think ahead and make plans for retirement and downsizing now, rather than later,” Francena says.

They relied on assistance from their long-time real estate agent. “We have always been happy with his advice,” Francena says. “He suggested we consider new condominiums over resale, because we would start out with everything fresh and chosen to our liking. We looked at a few different options in Oakville and Burlington, before he led us to Valera, a location that is just perfect for us. He knows about Adi’s excellent reputation.”

Francena owns a concierge-at-your-service company, and Ron is in the transportation business. Their Oakville home is close to Burlington, and they are familiar with the area around Valera. Adi’s master-planned community is within walking distance to numerous stores, restaurants and a community centre. Valera is also close to highways and public transit. According to Francena, “If we decide to sell the condo someday, the convenient location makes our suite worth all that much more.” Valera will feature an on-site car share for owners/renters who do not own a vehicle.

Ron and Francena purchased a two-bedroom suite that measures just under 900 sq. ft. “We love the design,” Francena says. “The suite, while smaller than our present home, doesn’t have any wasted space. It’s a great layout for our needs.”

For this couple, having amenities in the building expands their living space even more. “We absolutely love the fact that we will have these areas within steps of our suite,” Francena says. Valera residents will enjoy concierge service, recreation and leisure area, pet spa, wellness spa, a fitness facility plus a rooftop lounge with barbecues and dining area. “When we are older, it may be more difficult to get out to activities, so having these in the building is incredible.” They are also excited about Adi’s state-of-the-art ‘Home+’ smart-building system. Francena says that having keyless entry, added security, as well as controlling their own suite’s climate from a digital wall pad or using an app on their phone will be very convenient, especially when they travel.

Ron and Francena spend a lot on maintenance for their current home, Francena says, “so we are looking forward to the convenience we will have at Valera. There will be a lot less to worry about. When we go away, we can just lock the door and leave!”

The couple have found purchasing from Adi Development Group easy. “We feel very comfortable buying from them, which is so important when making such a major purchase decision,” says Francena.

The Valera community has proven such a success, that ADI Development Group has released the second phase earlier than expected.
