East-ender Brittany Eldridge threw a party for 30 of her friends with music supplied by indie rock band the Young Empires — and it didn’t cost her a cent. Eldridge was the winner of a contest held by East United to find the best Instagram photo that reflected love for living on the east side.

On Sept. 26, the team at East United celebrated the culmination of its East vs. West campaign and the launch of its new condo development with a pop-up concert headlined by Young Empires with Eldridge as the honouree.

“It was so much fun to be able to invite my friends for a private concert with Young Empires,” says Eldridge. “The band put on a great show and the space behind East United ended up being the perfect venue.”

Mirroring the unique fabric of the east end, both sides of the development’s façades pay homage to the neighbourhood’s heritage and contemporary aesthetics. While the five-storey podium on Parliament exudes a stylized modernism, the preserved heritage building along Berkeley, a former row of stables, gives the residences a historical depth.

The interior’s aesthetic pulls inspiration from the intermingling characters of the building’s vibrant locale. Corktown’s eclectic identity is embedded into East United’s design with inspiration also pulled from places like the St. Lawrence Market, King East's Design District and the historic cobblestone streets of the Distillery District.
