Gananoque's Stone & South community

“We aren’t boaters, but we love living on the water.”

That’s one of many reasons why William and Sandra (Bill and Sandy) Miles purchased a luxury waterfront condo at Stone & South on the River in Gananoque, Ontario, CaraCo Development Corporation’s community of dockside residences on the St. Lawrence River.

“We happily live in a prime lakeside spot right now, in Oakville,” says Bill. “But we wanted to move to something similar in a quieter municipality. Stone & South is perfect and offers the best new, modern living accommodations in the Gananoque area, and it is right on the waterfront.”

Both are now retired from their corporate careers. For a number of years after that, they operated their own management consulting firm, helping various businesses in Canada, the USA, and Europe grow and prosper.

“Bill was in retail management and international business development for years, and I was in human resources and marketing,” says Sandy. “Over the years, our skill sets enabled us to take on 18 foreign assignments with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), helping small businesses in developing countries. We have both travelled the world for business and pleasure, and we have visited over 80 countries.”

This adventurous couple has taken part in African safaris, river-boated along the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia and sailed on a Russian ice-breaking ship in the Canadian Arctic. “One of our favourite pastimes is to sit by the water on sun and sand islands in the Caribbean. Our move to Gananoque will give us the same tranquil environment, within the Thousand Islands area,” she says.

Bill and Sandy have two adult children; one, their daughter with her husband and children, live in Kingston.

“Kingston is less than 30 minutes away,” says Bill. “Gananoque is halfway between Toronto and Montreal, and close to Ottawa, so it will be easy to visit or host our friends. In addition, we will be able to walk to Gananoque’s main business area for shopping, services, theatre and great restaurants.”

Sandy says they are ecstatic that Stone & South is adjacent to the Thousand Islands Playhouse.

Sandy and Bill purchased a 1,547-sq.-ft., three-bedroom Wolfe Island corner suite. “We’ll have everyday gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence River and the Thousand Islands,” Bill says. “Working with their sales representatives was always pleasant, and we never felt hurried. We requested a few suite design changes, and everyone was very accommodating and understanding.”

There is still time to own at this remarkable community. Suite prices begin from $489,900. Call 613.876.2524.
