Gord Downie of Tragically Hip sells Toronto home
November 11, 2015
The Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie has just sold his Toronto home in Riverdale. However, the Canadian rocker took a hit in the process as the home sold well below its original asking price.
The home first entered the market at $2,495,000, was re-listed at a reduced price of $2,249,000, and then finally sold for $2,230,000 – $260,000 below the original asking price.
While the home boasts some stunning features, it's not what we expected from the rock star. With the exception of a few quirky features such as his art collection and bold light fixtures, the home is relatively quaint and subdued, seamlessly fitting into the Riverdale neighbourhood. The home has floor-to-ceiling windows, and the light-coloured walls against the dark hardwood floors make a stunning contrast. The home's narrow exterior is complimented by beautiful lush gardens in both the front and backyard.
It turns out, Gord Downie didn't want to use his celebrity status to sell the house faster, and as a result, the buyer was completely oblivious to the identity of the former owner. We wonder if the new owner is a Tragically Hip fan...
