Families skate with Canadian Olympic hockey hero

A recent Saturday afternoon family skating event, hosted by Podium Developments, on freshly flooded ice at their future Ironwood community in North Oshawa (1569 Simcoe St. N.), saw about 50 moms, dads, kids and grandparents meet and skate with five-time world and Canadian Women’s Olympic hockey champion goalie, Sami Jo Small. The two-time Gold medal winner and MVP shared her experiences with skaters around a bonfire with hot chocolate. Obliging all for photos and autographs before giving some tips to first-time skaters, she’s shown with Podium Development’s Vice President, Development Christian Huggett (at right) and Development Manager Adam Lennie. The Ironwood community will be a stunning collection of modern townhomes with numerous community amenities called keystones, an outdoor skating rink among them. Podium and their partner Building Capital invited all attendees to bring their used skates as a donation for Skate to Great, a non-profit organization that donates skates to those in need.

First master-planned community comes to Hagersville in SWO

Award-winning Empire Communities, one of North America’s largest private homebuilders, is bringing the first master-planned community to Hagersville — Empire Livingston.

Launching in spring 2020, Empire Livingston offers detached homes starting from the low $500s. The new southwestern Ontario community will feature distinct home plans that include bungalow and two-storey designs, with homes ranging from 1,266- to 3,289-sq-ft. on 36- and 44-ft. lots.

Located in the heart of Haldimand County, Empire Livingston is a growing community with something for everyone, from excellent schools, local conveniences and close proximity to neighbouring cities and towns. In Hagersville, couples and families can experience the pride of homeownership and enjoy the safety and serenity that comes with living life in a small town.

“Empire sees the value in Hagersville and we want to embrace all the great things the community has to offer, not change it. Preserving and building on the values and visions for Hagersville is important to us and we truly feel as though Livingston will do just that,” says Sue MacKay, VP of Marketing at Empire Communities. The presentation centre is now open for people to speak with a sales representative and tour the professionally designed model homes. Visit empirelivingstonhomes.com for more details.
