It’s time to rate your new home builder

If you’ve purchased a new home or condo in the last year, here is your opportunity to rate your builder.Tarion Warranty Corp., the underwriter of warranties for new homes and condos in Ontario, is sending surveys to more than 49,000 new-home buyers in the province who have taken possession of a new home or condo between Oct. 1, 2013 and Sept. 30, 2014. This yearly survey is your chance to rate your builder’s level of customer service, and your experience with Tarion.“The feedback of new-home buyers is essential in helping improve the new home buying experience for everyone in Ontario,” says Howard Bogach, president and CEO of Tarion Warranty Corporation. “The results of these surveys helps builders and Tarion understand what is important to new home buyers, and how we can better our services to meet their needs” adds Bogach.
Invitations are being sent to all home and condo owners directing them to an online survey. Questions focus on homeowners’ satisfaction with their builder, covering every stage in the homeowner-builder relationship from the signing of the Agreement of Purchase and Sale, through construction and the pre-delivery period, to after-sales service. Questions also cover the homeowner’s interaction with Tarion.Tarion sends qualified builders a copy of their individual results and the results of their category in general (dividing builders into small, medium, large and highrise). The results of the surveys are also used to determine the finalists and recipients of the Tarion Awards of Excellence, announced in April.“Over the years, significant enhancements have been made directly based on the feedback we receive from our annual survey,” says Bogach. “Tarion has updated many services based on homeowners' opinions.
