Jay discovers Amson Square

Jay has a simple philosophy when it comes to opportunity: when you see one don’t let it slip through your fingers.

So when a work colleague mentioned the one-bedroom suite he’d just purchased at Amson Square in Surrey, Jay realized this could be the investment opportunity he’d been waiting for. He and his wife booked an appointment at the recently re-opened presentation centre and went to check it out for themselves.

It was Wednesday.

Everything, from Amson Square’s location near Newton Town Centre to the diverse selection of floor plans to the lengthy list of standard features, worked. “It ticked every box,” Jay says. As a further bonus, he adds, a top floor unit with “really lovely views” was available.

“I believe that when you see something you like, don’t wait because it might not be there when you come back.” That Saturday afternoon, the couple signed a sales contract and made the down payment on a top-floor, corner unit with three bedrooms.

“We had no worries purchasing during the pandemic,” Jay says. “My wife works for Canada Post and I’m with a credit union, so we both have stable jobs. Prices were down a bit, making it much easier to jump into the investment market. And since the building isn’t scheduled to complete until March 2020, by then Covid will be over, and we’ll all be able to see how the new future will roll out.”

Jay hopes his son who is currently 19 and studying at Langara College will move into the suite, but he’s realistic. “By then, he may be in a relationship and prefer to live somewhere else. Either way, this part of South Surrey is developing so fast we won’t have any trouble renting it out. And if the proposed SkyTrain link to the airport does happen, well it will just make everything even better.”
