The Calgary Fall Home Show has always been the best place to find the hottest home design trends, where visitors can get expert tips on all their DIY needs, and find the latest product improve home life. It is also the biggest stage where emerging young designers get their big break to make a name for themselves.

There is much excitement for this year’s show, following the blockbuster success of the Calgary Home + Garden Show last spring. The annual show, to be held from September 30 to October 2 at the BMO Centre, has proven to be fertile ground in discovering new talent in the home improvement industry and it is where stars like Bryan Baeumler (who is also among the headliners at this year’s show) got their start.

NextHome Calgary spoke with three of the most promising stars of this year’s show to see what they have to offer and give a glimpse of what they will be presenting at this year’s show.

Megan Golightly

With an international career already spanning 14 years that has taken her everywhere in Canada and the United States, Calgary-based Megan Golightly proves her organization and design skills should not be taken lightly.

Her Instagram page, @gosimplified (a play on her surname), has 135,000 followers and is replete with decluttering ideas that take into account the psychology behind it and how it is a form of self-care.

Brittany McNab

For the show, Brittany will be designing a feature called “Design Decisions,” which will give advice on how best to come to a design decision in an age where too much information can easily overwhelm.

“I think many people (myself sometimes included) are faced with a lot of decision paralysis when it comes to putting together a room. There are a lot of decisions to make: furniture, lighting, accessories, styling, wall finishes, art, soft furnishings and the list goes on.”

Brittany will showcase three styles for Design Decisions: California Coastal, Organic Modern, and Modern Farmhouse. “My aim with each feature is to show what elements make up each distinct style, and what to look for when putting a room together. I’m hoping this feature will instill confidence into anyone tackling their own room, and also to show our clients what is possible when working with us.”
