Mirabel-en-haut is a recently developed residential neighbourhood in the northeastern part of the city of Mirabel. It is bordered to the south by Route Sir Wilfrid-Laurier, separating the region from the rest of Mirabel. It is bordered to the east by the city of Saint-Jérôme, and to the north and the west by Saint-Colomban.

Life in the neighbourhood

Mirabel-en-haut neighbourhood

The lifestyle in Mirabel-en-haut is residential and modern, some may even say chic. All of the houses were built within the last few years and more are being built everyday. Although the area is remote for the time being, residents enjoy the peace and quiet, all while remaining relatively close to larger developments in Saint-Jérôme and the more industrial parts of Mirabel. The neighbourhood offers cottage-country living in a modern setting. Families choose to settle here because it appears to be removed, but still permits a community life. There is a new elementary school and a big park, with a playground, small soccer field, tennis courts, water games for kids and even a small skateboarding area.

Mirabel-en-haut is a great spot to raise a family – there is ample space, a big park and a new elementary school. In fact, half of all households in Mirabel include children. Most of the population originates from the province of Quebec, and the vast majority is French-speaking.

For eating out and shopping, residents travel to the neighbouring Saint-Jérôme, where there is a large SmartCentre right by the highway. Homes in Mirabel-en-haut are brand new, or you can buy land on which to build, making them customizable and slightly more expensive.

Getting around the neighbourhood

Mirabel-en-haut is located only a short drive from Highway 15, which connects to the ski hills in the Laurentians to the north, and to the rest of Mirabel and Montreal to the south. As the area is very new, there are no municipal buses running. Montreal is accessible by commuter train – there is a stop close by in Saint-Jérôme.

Mirabel-en-haut is a great option if you like to live away from all the action, without being too far. You also just happen to be close to the ski slopes of the Laurentians. It's a great place to raise a family, especially if you work in Saint-Jérôme or in the industrial part of Mirabel. As of today, the area remains quite remote, but as it continues to develop, we will surely more businesses settling down within the borders of this up-and-coming neighbourhood.
