If proximity to transit, highways and shopping are what really attract buyers to neighbourhoods… that’s all the explanation you need for Mississauga City Centre.

Almost 60 condominium buildings populate this area, centred around the Hurontario Street and Burhamthorpe Road intersection of Mississauga.

Yes, 60. Let’s come back to that.

How would a suburban area that barely 40 years ago was little more than farmland become such a thriving community? Well, it’s easy to see why, when your neighbourhood includes:

  • Mississauga Civic Centre (the city hall of city of Mississauga), a prominent and distinct piece of architecture in the area since 1987, which includes gardens and athletic and recreation facilities
  • The Living Arts Centre, a busy venue for performing arts that offers a great alternative to shows in Toronto
  • The Central Library, open seven days a week with the usual library fare but also art exhibits and displays
  • The City Centre Transit Terminal, the main hub for MiWay, the city’s public transit system
  • Good natural proximity to Hwys. 403 and 401
  • And of course, Square One Shopping Centre, a massive landmark shopping complex that is undergoing a $320-million expansion for completion in spring 2016

These are exactly the items that help buyers check all the boxes of things they’re look for in a place to live.

Now, back to the thriving condo community.

You may be aware of the famous Absolute towers, built by Fernbrook Homes in partnership with Toronto developers Cityzen Group in the last few years. These signature buildings, their distinct shape visible for kilometres, have become landmarks for development in the area. And if you haven’t viewed them up close, include a quick stop on your next visit to Square One.

But there’s more to the Mississauga City Centre than the “Marilyn Monroe” towers. There’s no less than 53 existing projects in the area, from The Daniels Corporation’s The Capital and Chicago Condominiums, to the Citygate towers from Davies Smith Developments.

Add to these another four active projects: Mirage by the Conservatory Group; Amacon’s Parkside Village – PSV and PSV2; and Pinnacle International’s Pinnacle Grand Park 2. Indeed, you can see why Mississauga City Centre is such a booming neighbourhood.
