Buying a brand-new home was something Peter and Shirley* had never done. But after living in the same home in Tsawwassen for 31 years, they were ready.
“Both our daughters were married, so we were on our own,” Peter says. “Shirley was born in Chilliwack, and her sister still lives there. It just made sense for us to think about moving back there.”
The couple found a local Realtor and started looking at townhouses where they could enjoy a more carefree lifestyle after decades of continual maintenance on their aging family home. “We saw several that were nice, but none of them really appealed to us,” Peter recalls. “And none of them were new.”
Then they discovered Vista Green.
Located on a hillside overlooking the Falls Golf Club, Vista Green’s duplex-style design with master-on-the-main and dazzling views immediately won their hearts. Plus, they’d heard many good things about the developer, Kerkhoff Construction.
“The location is very quiet — something that was important to us,” Peter says. “And the view is stunning. From our living room we can see the first tee and all across the valley toward Rosedale and Harrison.”
As a bonus, there were plenty of other dog owners, meaning the couple soon got to know the neighbours while walking their black and white partipoodle.
Making it special
Shirley and Peter both say that the ability to customize cinched the deal. “One thing I really wanted was space for a pool table and wet bar,” Peter says.
“So rather than having a third bedroom on the lower level, we were able to make it into a rec room. When the kids come over, we all use it… a lot.”
The perfect move, the perfect time, the perfect setting. It was worth the 31-year wait.
