The most expensive home ever listed on MLS in Quebec has sold for $13.2 million. Marie-Yvonne Paint, a seasoned real estate broker with Royal LePage Heritage, sold the home, located in the Estrie region.

The stone-sided mansion sits on a 283,120-sq.-ft. property, surrounded by panoramic lake and mountain views. The 20-room main residence features the amenities and designs elements such as:

Five bedrooms, including a master bedroom with 25-ft. ceilings and one of five fireplaces throughout the house
Seven bathrooms (five full-baths; two powder rooms)
Geothermal energy system
Generator
Heated indoor pool
Spacious home theatre
Home gym and ping pong room
Office and library
Separate reception office
Separate living, dining and family rooms
A private wine cellar and tasting room
Three kitchens, including one specifically designed for catering
Dressing room equipped with an elevator and laundry facilities
Mezzanine area
Ornate fixtures and ironwork railings throughout the foyer
Marble and Versailles parquets flooring throughout the home

The estate's manicured grounds also include three guest houses, a private dock and a spacious outdoor terrace area.

Located near the U.S. border east of Montreal, Estrie is a very sought-after area because of its vast and beautiful scenery, Royal LePage says.

"The region is renowned for its fine gastronomy and local products, as well as for its recreational activities throughout the year," Dominic St-Pierre, senior director for the Quebec region, Royal LePage, told YPNextHome. "Just a little over an hour separates the region from downtown Montreal, which is quite interesting for families who live in Montreal but who are seeking a quiet haven to spend their weekends and holidays."

The property is something of a gem in the area. In the Estrie region, two other properties are listed at more than $5 million, St-Pierre says.

The seller was reported to be Alain Bedard, president and CEO of transport and logistics company TransForce. The buyer was not disclosed but is reported to be local.

The home had been on the market for almost two years, St-Pierre says.

Royal LePage declined to divulge the asking price, but other reports said the home was previously listed for $19.5 million.
