When Satvir and Lakhwinder discovered Vantage in Surrey’s popular Sullivan neighbourhood, they knew immediately it ticked all the boxes on their wish list. Open floorplans, lots of natural light from all the big, bright windows, and a location close to their families and workplaces – it was the ideal setting for them to put down roots.

First steps on the homeownership ladder

The couple had been renting nearby for several years, and they desperately wanted to make the move to homeownership. “Our rent just kept going up,” Satvir says. “And that’s money you never get back.”

They’d considered a resale, but soon realized that for just a little more, they could enjoy all the benefits of a brand-new home.

“Even a home that’s only a year or two old often has damage,” she says. “Here, everything was perfect.”

Initially, the couple planned to purchase the first home they’d walked through – a spacious interior unit. But when Satvir’s family came with them for a second look, her father convinced them to go for an end unit with extra windows and even more space for their growing family. It’s a decision she’s never regretted.

Proud parents of a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son, she and her husband wanted to send their children to a traditional school.

“McLeod Road Elementary is within walking distance, so when our son started Grade 1 in September, that dream happened, too,” Satvir says, smiling.

Happy at home

Decision made, Satvir and Lakhwinder’s move was a whirlwind.

“Just over a week after we signed the papers, we were in our new home,” Satvir says.

“There was a promotion with The Brick, so we bought all brand-new furniture, too. It was very exciting.”

Following tradition, shortly after moving in, both families gathered to bless the couple’s new home followed by a festive celebration with music, food, and plenty of laughter.

“This really is my dream home,” Satvir says. “We’re going to be happy here for a very long time.”
