Seton: Calgary’s new southern hub
September 18, 2019
Looking for a new community that has everything you could possibly need? The search ends with Seton. Planning for the community began in 2000 with a vision to create a vibrant community with a wide array of amenities to the underserviced south Calgary communities. When you live here, you don’t need to travel far from home for entertainment or fine dining. Seton is quickly becoming a popular urban centre, making suburban south Calgary a lively place to work, live and play.
Not your average rec centre
Just earlier this year, Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton opened its doors to Calgarians. Complete with recreational and competitive pools, ice rinks, fitness facilities, community spaces, a public library, and childcare, this is a gathering place for Seton community members and all Calgarians.
Get your chores done and shop for fun
All of your essentials are covered: groceries, banking, pharmacies, liquor, dental, salons, coffee and fast food are readily available in Seton right now. And for the fitness enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers, Calgary’s much anticipated Mountain Equipment Co-op Calgary South is located right here.
Three more shopping areas are planned for Seton. The North Retail District and Gateway District will bring in additional retailers and services to Seton, and the much-anticipated Market Street is planned for the heart of the community. Market Street is a pedestrian-oriented shopping avenue with cobblestone streets, boutique shops and local cafes. Designed to be both a neighbourhood treasure and a destination shopping area for all of Calgary, Market Street may one day rival Stephen Avenue in the downtown core.
Fine dining in your neighbourhood
Pretty soon your family, friends and colleagues will eagerly be heading south to join you at your local eateries. Make a reservation at Starbelly Open Kitchen & Lounge for an exquisite date night. Check out The Tommyfield Gastro Pub for brunch, late night eats, and everything in between.
The VIP experience
The latest trend in cinematic experiences has come to Calgary at last and it’s located right here in Seton. Cineplex Cinemas Seton and VIP offers an upscale restaurant and lounge where you can order cocktails, craft beers, and gourmet meals before or after your movie. You can also have an appetizer, dinner or dessert served while seated in front of the big screen.
Walk your kids to school
The Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School opened last year to its inaugural class. There are four more schools planned in the community with an array of education options including public, Catholic and French Immersion schools.
South health campus
Seton is home to the South Health Campus, Calgary’s state-of-the-art hospital and health care facility. Equipped with 269 beds, 2,700 full-time staff and 180 physicians, the hospital supports 92,000 patient care days and 200,000 outpatient visits annually. A cornerstone of the Seton community, the South Health Campus employs many local Seton residents and the staff, volunteers, patients and visitors contribute to the lively Seton community.
Well connected
With easy access to Stoney Trail and Deerfoot Trail, you’ll be quickly on your way to your destination. Depending on traffic, you’ve got a 30- to 40-minute commute to downtown in the morning. Calgary Transit bus routes currently service the community and more transit options are planned for the future. The proposed C-Train green line, the southeast leg of Calgary’s light rail transit system, is currently designed to have two stops in Seton, one at the South Health Campus, and one at Market Street.
Come find your home
Developed by Brookfield Residential, there is a wide array of home types in this community from seven different builders. From condos and townhomes to single family homes and estates, there is something for every budget and lifestyle. Come claim your piece of Seton now and watch this community become the new hub of south Calgary.
