Some of Canada’s top luxury homes are on the market — the only barrier is footing the bill. Here are seven of the most expensive homes in Canada.

We’ve seen the demand for luxury homes in Toronto grow, with a 37-per-cent increase in luxury real estate purchases in 2014. This trend is predicted to continue this year.

President and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Canada, Ross McCredie, says that demand for high-end estates is due to “low lending rates, a strong economy and steady immigration into Canada’s major cities.”

Whether a lottery ticket is burning a hole in your pocket, or you’re in the market for a multi-million-dollar estate, here are seven of the most expensive homes in Canada currently available. Happy house hunting!

7. 75 Highland Cres., Toronto

Price: $13.9 million

Size: 13,000-plus sq. ft.

The home is located around Toronto’s Bridle Path neighbourhood, which is known for its affluence.

The property has more of a modern look and less of a Victorian aesthetic, unlike the other estates on the list. The exterior is characterized by copper and stained wood. It’s certainly a unique look. Proximity to the Toronto downtown core, and view of the city skyline, affords easy access to city life.

Unique features: Many rooms are designed with imported Italian Porsche designed doors. The indoor pool can be viewed from more than one room in the house.

6. 11 High Point Rd., Toronto

Price: $ 14.8 million

Size: 20,000 sq. ft.

Built with solid stone, the high ceilings and sweeping staircases give the house a regal feel. The master dressing room and six-piece ensuite include heated floors. Through the use of Italian marble pillars and French design, this home is a work of art.

This home's claim to fame is that it was used as a set on the movie Mean Girls. It was the decadent home of Regina George.

Unique feature: A private elevator will keep your feet off the beautifully crafted staircases.

This home is listed as a Waterfront Chateau and certainly fits the description, with a 45-ft. pool, hot tub and personal waterfall looking over the ocean. Direct access to the beachfront is included via the backyard. Jerusalem limestone floors that are incorporated throughout the home, along with mahogany craftwork, seal the deal with this exclusive property.

Called the Villa Florentine, this home has been spotted on Pinterest, no doubt due to the sheer size and elegance. For a mere $1 million more than the Waterfront Chateau, a buyer can abandon city living for a sprawling estate that includes an equestrian facility. Riding around your property on horseback would give anyone a run for their money.

Unique feature: A private lake and large outdoor pool makes outdoor living luxurious.

Living on a private island is possible with this property. It's also the former home of Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion. Sotheby’s website states that the mansion was built in 2001 and that the 830,000-sq.-ft. home is being sold with “almost” all of its contents. The mansion features a number of outdoor balconies and massive facilities suitable for entertaining a large party.

Unique feature: A helipad can be installed, if that’s your preferred method of transportation.

Integral House

This is one of Toronto's most buzzed about properties in recent years. This house is truly unique, as it was built by its previous owner, the late James Stewart, a Toronto mathematician. At its core, the home is about music, art and entertaining. It contains a now famous Toronto concert space that can house up to 200 people, with room for 100 more in the upper gallery. Architecturally, the house is a masterpiece in its design, focusing on curves and an open concept, with entertaining in mind. The private rooms are distinctly separate.

Unique feature: 97 wood panels, called "fins" are a defining characteristic.
