When it comes to the concept of “home,” StateView Homes has an abiding commitment to building top-quality residences in excellent locations with attentive customer service. The team at StateView also understands that it is people who transform a house into a home. For families with children who have serious injuries or illnesses, a temporary home is often Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

Since it was founded 11 years ago, StateView has donated and pledged more than $600,000 to the hospital. “There are many families and children in need, especially in this major hospital, which is known worldwide for its outstanding work,” says Julian Uccello, StateView’s vice-president of operations. “We know that by donating to SickKids, the money will be used for the right reasons, such as research and initiatives to help fulfill high-priority needs.”

Donation matching

One of the ways StateView upholds this commitment is through the donation of $5,000 for every home sold, on behalf of the purchasers. StateView’s team also takes part in SickKids fundraising initiatives each year. In the fall, the company got involved with the SickKids GetLoud program presented by PCL Construction. StateView matched all donations raised between Sept. 22 and 25, for a total of $98,000. This initiative raised more than $1.5 million.

Earlier in 2020, StateView partnered with SickKids and RBC Capital Markets to hold the fifth annual Bubble Hockey Night (now Fantasy Hockey in light of COVID). “Guests, supporters and players, including some past NHLers such as Darryl Sittler, raised more than $420,000 for SickKids Foundation at this table-top tournament,” Uccello says. “We had a lot of fun, and it was all for a great cause.”

Seanna Millar, senior vice-president of corporate and community partnerships at SickKids Foundation, says, “Since 2011, StateView Homes has generously donated $257,000 to help improve the lives of children and families affected by serious illness or injury. During this time of crisis, StateView Homes has stepped up incredibly and pledged to donate another $350,000 to support SickKids’ fight against the greatest challenges in child health… a huge thank you to StateView Homes for their commitment and hope during this especially challenging time.”

“Children are our most vulnerable residents, and we want to help make sure that the services they need at SickKids are always available,” adds Uccello. “If the kids have a smile on our faces, so do we.”
