A big city with a lot to offer, finding things to do in Calgary is no challenge. But securing your own special spot where you can unwind on your lunch break or on the weekend is a big bonus. Here’s a list of our top spots to relax, recharge and take in the best of the city.

Confederation Park

This park is a hidden gem because of the sheer amount of activities it offers so close to the city centre. Many people know of Confederation Park but in addition to the golf course and pathways people can also enjoy the beautiful flower and rock garden, a wetland and a permanent orienteering track. In the winter it’s an excellent spot for tobogganing and cross country skiing.

Tom Campbell’s Hill

The Calgary Zoo and Memorial Trail in the Bridgeland community are great things to do in Calgary. Being close to those popular destinations and requiring a hike to get to the top means Tom Campbell’s Hill gets overlooked sometimes. It shouldn’t. The spectacular views are worth the walk through. There are plenty of benches along the trails to give yourself a rest and enjoy the scenery.

Cemetery Hill

Walking through a cemetery may give some people the creeps but the beautiful setting at the top of Union Cemetery would put those feelings at ease. The tranquil scenes and magnificent views make it a peaceful spot to relax. You can also learn about Calgary’s history with a cemetery tour.

Reader Rock Gardens

Reader Rock Gardens, Calgary

The unique landscape design and historic ties to the city make this one of Calgary’s true gems. The restored Reader House and café are great hangouts while the flower and rock garden is great spot to relax and get away from it all.
