Gallery Walk

Gallery Walk, Edmonton

The booming business district along 124th Street has led to booming business for some of Edmonton’s art galleries. New galleries have started and older ones have relocated to the Gallery Walk area. Many people know they are there, but few know that it is a free and fun way to spend an afternoon. There is no charge to walk in and see the latest in Canadian and international art. As one of the city’s most vibrant areas, you'll easily find some great food or coffee afterwards.

Thing to do in Edmonton if you need: Peace and Quiet

There is no shortage of green space in Edmonton. However, if you're looking for a place that's a little secluded, visit...

Irene Parlby Park

Irene Parlby Park, Edmonton

This park connects the popular Louise McKinney Park to the Walterdale Bridge. This strip of parkland offers a few access points to the river for boaters in addition to some off-road bike paths. There is also a playground and you can even take a Segway tour. Irene Parlby Park is hidden in the trees, allowing you to forget that you are just down the hill from the downtown business district.

Rafter’s Landing

Rafter’s Landing, Edmonton

Many people think of this area as the launching point for the Edmonton Queen, but go into the ravine a little deeper and the trails offer something spectacular. Great for hikers and cyclists, they wind through to the neighbouring Henrietta Louise Edwards Park. They also lead to areas with amazing views of the downtown skyline that you won’t find anywhere else.

Kinnaird Park

Most people heading east on Jasper Avenue turn up 82nd Street because the avenue comes to a dead end. But that's exactly where Kinnaird Park is located. The park has great hiking trails that run from the river up to Concordia University College of Alberta. The path along the river also takes you up to Ada Boulevard, which is home to some of Edmonton’s historical architecture.

Victoria Promenade

Victoria Promenade, Edmonton

The Victoria Promenade offers some of the best views of the River Valley in the city, but it isn’t well known because its location is tucked away from Jasper Avenue. Visitors will find a hidden path through the trees below the Promenade and Victoria Park Road that is a beautiful spot for bird and butterfly watching.
