While every city in Canada holds dear its most popular neighbourhoods, there is always room for great places to live, and better yet, to be the first to discover them. Toronto’s West Queen West wasn’t always hip, Vancouver’s West End didn’t always win awards and Calgary's Beltine couldn’t always have been one of the best. Here’s our list of up-and-coming neighbourhoods to look out for in 2016!

River District, Vancouver

Toronto will soon add another community to its neighbourhood roster! Located at Perth and Sterling, Lower JCT will be situated in the southern end of the Junction Triangle. The southern portion of the Junction Triangle has remained relatively vacant and under-utilized – until now. After the plan is executed, Lower JCT will be a vibrant mixed-use community, emblematic of its surrounding west end counterparts like the Junction and Roncesvalles. It will provide space for up to 2,500 jobs and will be home to 1,000 residents.

Kleinberg, Vaughan

Kleinburg is a quaint neighbourhood that offers a little taste of nostalgia. It has a charming main street along Islington that is filled with cafes, boutiques, and shops located in historic buildings. The people are just as laid back as the neighbourhood they live in; the streets are often packed with residents taking a stroll or enjoying the sidewalk patios. New developments like Impressions in Kleinburg by Fieldgate Homes offer modern living in an old fashioned setting.

Pointe-Nord, Montreal

Pointe-Nord - Feature

The bright lights and city skyline often make us forget that Montreal is actually an island. Aside from the very suburban West Island and north shores, there aren’t too many spots in the city to enjoy the magnificent views of the Saint Lawrence River. But Pointe-Nord, an up-and-coming neighbourhood on the northern tip of Nuns’ Island, will offer its residents just that. There is currently one main street, with only the best of Montreal’s small businesses setting up shop. The neighbourhood is being carefully curated to house only Montreal’s finest local businesses.
