United Lands began its history in Canada as the subsidiary of a British company that was granted 20 thousand acres of land in Newfoundland in return for its contribution in laying the first Trans-Atlantic Cable to Canada. United Lands further rose to prominence in the early 1950s with the development of several thousand acres of commercial and residential real estate in southwest Mississauga. United Lands was acquired by Welton Limited to bring a further 20 years of construction and development experience to the company. Under the leadership of David and John Welton, the family owned and operated United Lands grew into a fully integrated real estate development and construction company with many successful projects in Florida, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, the greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario.
