If you're looking for high end dining and shopping, look to Yorkville. And if you happen to be shopping for a luxury condo here in Canada's high-end highrise capital, look to the iconic corner of Cumberland and Bellair, where Minto Yorkville Park is set to rise 25 storeys above it all. Inside, IBI Group Architects embraced the geometry and opulence of the Art Deco era, embellished in gold details – after all, this is Yorkville.

We chatted with IBI Group's Jennifer Lem on interior design, inspiration and the future of decorating trends.

IBI Group's Jennifer LemQ. What inspired the interior design at Minto Yorkville Park?
A. We were inspired by an Art Deco aesthetic throughout the space, but modernized with a more current appeal. We played with luxe gold embellishments, rich stones and bold motifs. These were all really popular textures in Art Deco. To make sure that the look reflected a sophisticated urban lifestyle, we’ve incorporated clean lines throughout and sleek polished accents, like the minimal design of the concierge desk. State-of-the-art appliances are used in the kitchens, while contemporary fixtures adorn the bathrooms.

Q. How did the surrounding neighbourhood play into the look and feel of the interiors?
A. Minto wanted to create a space reflective of the prestige of this Yorkville location, offering something entirely unique, given that this is quite a boutique project on the iconic corner of Cumberland and Bellair. We knew that the design should be something quite luxe while, at the same time, decidedly cosmopolitan.

Q. What’s your favourite feature?
A. I'd have to say my favourite feature is the multi-purpose amenity area with the connecting terrace. It's such a fantastic location to entertain with a luxurious chef’s kitchen, cosy lounge complete with a fireplace, and private dining area. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax or throw a cocktail party.

Q. Describe the model suite in three words.
A. Luxurious, unique, efficient.

Q. What’s the hottest trend to watch out for in 2015?
A. Contrasting highlights of bold colours and patterns infused into spaces with neutral backdrops.
