Buying with Catherine Zeta Jones & George Clooney
November 10, 2014
Celebrities never cease to amaze us with their lavish homes that, for the most part, are out of reach for many. Oscar couple Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas, and George Clooney have joined the list of celebs who are making big moves in the real estate world. Here's your chance to live vicariously through them.
Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas' New York Mansion
Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas have reunited, and there's no better way to start fresh than to purchase a new multi-million dollar mansion. The Oscar-winning couple has sold their Bedford home in New York and purchased another one that's double in size.
The fully renovated, 15,458-sq.-ft. house sits on 13 acres and boasts eight bedrooms, 13.5 bathrooms, a greenhouse, tennis court, two indoor pools and a four-stall barn to house their horses.
The pair also scored quite the deal – the house was originally listed for $12.75 million, but they managed to snag it for a cool $11.25 million.

George Clooney's private island
George Clooney has thrown a couple of curve balls lately. First he jetted off to Italy to marry lawyer-activist Amal Alamuddin, then he went on to purchase a 17-century English manor on a private, 5.5-acre island. The island is located in the Sonning-on-Thames village, where Clooney reportedly filmed scenes for the 2014 film, Monuments Men. The asking price was £7.5 million (US$12 million).
The house measures just under 9,000 sq. ft. with 10 bedrooms and eight full baths. It was previously owned by a banker, Omar Bayoumi, who cleaned the place up and added features including a gym, spa, an entertainment room and a state-of-the-art security system. Despite its massive size, the house manages to maintain a sense of cosiness due to the numerous fireplaces throughout, mahogany floors and natural coloured decor.
