How attention to detail makes these differences a Cardel home.

In its early years as a custom homebuilder, the husband and wife team of Carol and Del who started Cardel Homes believed strongly in the value of focusing on small details. It was part of their philosophy of building every home as if it were their own.

As time went by, these small, often unnoticeable touches became symbols of the meticulous attention to detail that went into the design and construction of every Cardel home. In many ways, these details became what made Cardel the choice of discerning homebuyers.

Today, Cardel has grown to build homes and develop communities in Canada and the United States. But they have not outgrown their belief that small things add up to a big difference when it comes to enjoying and appreciating the special place you call home.

It all starts with smart design that focuses on everyday living.

Understanding that Canadians spend a great deal of time indoors (especially these days), Cardel’s architect and designers combine practicality and efficiency with panache and ambiance in each floorplan they create. Thoughtful space planning ensures that every square foot of a Cardel home is used to its full advantage while leaving room for special touches that enhance daily living.

Extra-large windows are one of the most notable and loved features of a Cardel home. Larger windows provide both a ‘wow’ factor to a home and help bring in an abundance of natural light, a proven boost to mood and wellbeing. This focus on natural light is carried right through to the bedrooms and basements as well as stairwells, laundry and mudrooms.

Smart, well-planned storage including mudrooms, linen closets and walk-in pantries, provide for staples and supplies, especially important for busy, growing and multi-generational families.

Bedroom closets even feature swing doors for easier access and enhanced aesthetics.

Safety and comfort are always top of mind with Cardel’s designers and can be seen in a number of thoughtful touches including stairs that are wider and deeper than found in most homes.

Style is also front and centre with modern trim and railing details that showcase form and function. Coffered ceilings that add a touch of elegance and chic, sturdy 10mil glass showers that are usually found in boutique hotels.

Building on a long history of quality construction.

No doubt design is what has earned Cardel’s reputation with homebuyers, but construction is the foundation of that reputation. Every homeowner wants a solid investment and a home that provides efficiencies that reduce costs over time. Cardel has been committed to these principles from the very beginning.

Today, Cardel features construction details that go above building code and offer great value. From insulated garage doors that are more durable to heated floor spaces for rooms located above the garage and engineered hardwood flooring that provides four-season stability. All Cardel homes are also constructed using engineered flooring systems, including 11 7/8-inch joists for improved performance and design. These provide not only a stronger flooring system but also allow for larger spans with fewer obstructive posts or walls.

Basement construction is never overlooked in a Cardel home as it contributes to the quality and value of the entire home. Enhanced basement insulation guards against moisture and dampness as does the installation of exterior air barriers, a practice that Cardel helped pioneer.

When you add it all up, it turns out that thinking small makes a pretty big difference in the world of homebuilding. At least that’s what Cardel has believed for almost half a century.
