Director of Marketing & Communications for Coventry Group, Tara Van Horn, says Coventry Homes began creating Oiler Fan Caves in 2015 as part of their unique partnership with the Edmonton Oilers. “The concept has been very well received by the community, especially among avid Oilers fans. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans appreciating the customized, immersive experience that our Fan Caves offer. The initiative has been praised for its creativity and for enhancing the homeownership experience with a personal touch for hockey enthusiasts,” she says. “We’ve even had wedding parties request photo ops in our Fan Caves!”

The Oiler Fan Caves program started as a unique collaboration between Coventry Homes and the Edmonton Oilers. Recognizing the deep connection and passion that fans have for the team, Coventry saw an opportunity to enhance their home offerings with a feature that would resonate deeply with local homeowners. The partnership allowed Coventry Homes to incorporate official Oilers branding and memorabilia, ensuring authenticity and quality in every Fan Cave.

The passion for building such dedicated and personal fan caves comes straight from the top, as Coventry Homes CEO and founder, Henri Rodier, is himself a dedicated Oilers fan. “He has been an avid supporter of the team, which has fueled his enthusiasm for integrating the Oilers theme into Coventry’s home designs. His passion for the team and the sport has been a driving force behind the success of the Oiler Fan Caves initiative,” Van Horn says.

To date Coventry has designed and built eight Oilers Fan Caves, and is currently working on their ninth, quite fortunate timing to coincide with what can already be considered a highly successful season for the team.

“Each one is tailored to reflect the passion and enthusiasm of its owners for the Edmonton Oilers, offering a unique and personalized space within their homes,” Van Horn adds.

Over the years, several showhomes have featured the Oilers® Fan Cave in the developed basements. As a standard package they include a wet bar with a 10-foot base cabinet, granite or quartz countertops, glass front bar fridge, and five surround sound ceiling speakers, and more. Buyers will work directly with the Coventry design team and can even opt to paint the room in the Oilers colours of orange, blue and white.

“Like our home designs, Coventry offers a variety of flexible design options for Oiler Fan Caves, with endless different themes and customization options available. Your imagination is the limit,” she says.

Popular design elements include:

• Custom display areas for favourite Oilers memorabilia
• Official logos and licensed full wall murals
• Customized seating arrangements, such as theater-style seating
• State-of-the-art entertainment systems with large screens for watching games
• Sports themed bars or beverage stations

Oiler Fan Caves are typically designed as specialty spaces within the home’s basement. “While bedrooms and bathrooms do not come as standard in our Oilers Fan Cave packages, most of our home models have bedrooms and full bathrooms included in the MaxLiving (finished basement) packages. As a completely flexible builder, Coventry Homes can customize a Fan Cave basement to include a bedroom, kitchenette or a larger bar area, depending on the homeowner’s preferences. The main focus of these spaces is to provide a dedicated area for entertainment and relaxation.”

Currently, Coventry Homes has one showhome featuring an Oiler Fan Cave – the Dione showhome in the St. Albert community of Nouveau. It has a Nordic-inspired touch featuring a training gym with sleek lines.
