Fall is upon us, and not only is the most brilliant time to snap Instagram selfies with the changing foliage, it’s also the absolute best time to check out the latest showhomes, as Calgary’s homebuilders roll out their new lineup for the season.

Showhomes remain the most persuasive implement in the homebuilder’s marketing toolbox to display not only their skills and capabilities in building a home,
but inspiring visitors with the aspirational qualities of the home’s lifestyle potential.

There is no shortage of new and exciting designs and innovative floorplans either, as Calgary’s biggest homebuilders — multi-family and single-family, alike - bust out all the stops and crank the wow factor up to 11. Spa-like ensuites, check! Dramatic open-to-above ceilings in the great room, check! Gleaming kitchens with state-of-the-art appliances, check!

We also get to see new home designs that have been trending this year, including the three-storey and wide-shallow models. Here are a few of the most compelling ones that are out now or just about ready to launch.

StreetSide Developments

It’s been a very busy year for StreetSide Developments, their various townhome developments in Calgary and area have been selling strong — sometimes even going beyond expectation, like their Konekt townhomes in Inglewood that is down to its last handful of homes. They have several other developments on the go and more on the wings, like the final phase of their popular Evanston Park townhomes in the northwest that is getting ready for pre-sales on October 1.

The focus of the excitement right now is for their newest development, Creekstone Towns, which opens its showhome on September 24. Buyers will have the chance to experience what it will be like to live in no-condo-fee townhomes just steps away from a majestic environmental nature reserve in Hudson in Creekstone in the southwest.

Sterling Homes - Briar

“A big advantage of Sterling Homes’ lots in Painted Sky is that they range from 66- to 80-feet wide, giving our customers the option to build wider homes with inviting front entries, open concept across the width of
the home, triple car garages and extra space to spare in the yardfor kids to play, entertain friends, RVs, and more.”

This 2,228-square-foot Briar comes standard with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths and a dramatic open-to-below great room.

“This showhome and its wide set floorplan feel so different, in an amazing way, than the average new home,” Burns says. “There is extra space in every space, from the mudroom to the large walk-in pantry off the oversized Executive Kitchen, to the inviting central bonus room and extending into the magnificent backyard space.”

The showhome décor is a mix of high contrast modern with a warm, natural and happy to be home vibe, she adds. It also has a fourth bedroom option to address the needs of growing families.

Burns says the Briar in Painted Sky fits families looking to escape the city, enjoy more space both inside and outside their home and embrace the charm of Langdon, with quick access to Chestermere and the city.
