Find Harmony just west of Calgary

If you’ve driven west on Highway 1 in the past few summers, you may have noticed a colourful collection of paddles attached to fence posts about 10 minutes past the Calgary city limits. This was just one artistic display to generate awareness for a new lake community in Rocky View County. Harmony has been under construction since 2014, but many are not yet aware of this prairie oasis with mountain views. Take exit 169 off the highway and just past the Spring Bank Airport you’ll find a new development that’s quickly becoming a welcoming community. Harmony is the perfect place for anyone in search of a home that is outside the hustle of a big city, but also surrounded by amenities so you don’t need to go far for your day-to-day needs or to find fun things to do for the whole family.

Lakeside living

The first 40-acre portion of Harmony Lake is already open for the enjoyment of the community. In phase three, this lake will be expanded to 140-acres, making it larger than any other community lake in Calgary, and the deepest man-made lake in Alberta. In the summer, the beaches are busy with families playing in the water and non-motorized boats roaming the lake. Stocked with rainbow trout, Harmony Lake is also a hit for local fishing enthusiasts.

Water purity exceeds regulatory standards

Harmony Lake provides more than just recreation and serenity to the community. Sourced from the Bow River, Harmony Lake is the community’s source for drinking and irrigation water. Harmony does not tie into Calgary’s water system; the community has its own state-of-the-art Water Treatment Facility with one of the most advanced and efficient water treatment technologies available.

Adventure zone

A unique recreation area is planned for the heart of this community. Aptly named the Adventure Zone, phase one of this area will have a festival space, beach volleyball, skating path, all-wheel plaza and track, obstacle and climbing fitness, toboggan hill and a dog park. The whole project is expected to be completed in 2021.

Michelson National golf club

Phil Michelson’s first signature course in Canada is located right here in Harmony. Designed for “challenging fun,” Michelson designed this course to be adaptable to everyone from junior golfers and families to golf enthusiasts and professionals. All Harmony residents will have a social membership with the club to access the future Clubhouse, restaurant and banquet facilities. Full golf course memberships are now on sale, and the course is expected to open in Spring of 2020.

A community founded on values

Over a decade of planning and development went into creating this community and eight guiding principles were used to shape Harmony into a place where people can thrive: Live, Learn, Play, Work, Create, Connect, Sustain and Nourish. Several employment campuses with businesses are in the works, allowing residents to find employment opportunities in their community rather than commuting. Harmony also has a master community arts plan and strategy to foster creativity and support local artists. And with social gathering areas and over 25km of pathways to explore, Harmony creates spaces for people to connect and unwind.

Environmentally responsible

All of Harmony’s social and cultural initiatives are complemented by a strong plan for environmental stewardship. Innovative waste management, recycling, water conservation and carbon footprint reduction strategies have been implemented during construction. Sustainability and conservation are also at the forefront of the building and home designs, so Harmony will have a sustainable foundation for residents to build upon.

Three designated school sites

The community has been planned to include three schools that will be built as needed by the Rocky View School division. First to be built is a Kindergarten to Grade 9 school, conveniently located near the future Village Centre, a gathering place with shops, dining and community gathering places. Currently, children in Harmony can attend the excellent schools in the Spring Bank and Calgary area with options for public and private schools and specialized curriculums.

Which home will you choose?

Harmony offers a wide range of home types from a collection of distinguished homebuilders; Augusta, Baywest, Broadview, Calbridge, Nu Vista, Sterling and Streetside. From the high $400s to the $1Ms, this community has something for everyone; townhomes, move-up homes, rear-laned homes, bungalow villas, estate homes and lakefront homes.
