Finding Findlay Creek
May 5, 2021
If Findlay Creek is on your list of new communities to explore this summer, you’ll discover why Ottawa’s real estate market continues to break records.
With a population of almost 9000, according to the 2016 Canada Census, there were nearly 3,000 dwellings at that time — numbers that are sure to be going up when the 2021 census is released. In fact, the neighbourhood almost doubled in size between 2011 and 2016 according to census data.
Thanks to its prime location and suburban feel, Findlay Creek is popular with move-up buyers and growing families who want to be close everything, including the city.
Close to downtown Ottawa
Depending on the time of day, it generally takes between 25 to 40 minutes to get to downtown Ottawa by car, so jaunts to Byward Market, theatres, and places such as the National Arts Centre or the Ottawa Hospital are easy to access. Public transit is also a viable option in Findlay Creek. There are a couple of OC Transpo Park-and-Rides to get you to and from Findlay Creek without the hassle of driving the entire time.
The widening of Bank Street, a major arterial road, to four lanes in the Findlay Creek area also helps keep traffic flowing in this growing region.
Findlay Creek is keen to keep up with all the new families moving to the area.
A+ amenities
Having opened its first school, Vimy Ridge Public School, in 2017, new places like Diamond Jubilee Park Splash Pad and Skateboard Park, which are part of the fabulous, multi-phased Diamond Jubilee Park, keep kids busy for hours. The splash pad alone is one of the best you’ll ever experience. There are also plenty of scenic trails in this area for everyone to enjoy, including the Findlay Creek Boardwalk. Smaller parks with names like Turtle Park, Dragonfly Park and Tiger Lily Park also dot the area.
You will not have to go far to find everyday amenities in Findlay Creek. There are several grocery stores and banks in town, plus a Canadian Tire store, a Starbucks, and an LCBO, too. Several restaurants have popped up in the core of the community, including Hunter’s Public House, a super-popular restaurant with a great beer selection and tons of board games to play.
Close to three major area golf courses — Emerald Links Golf and Country Club; Falcon Ridge Golf Club and Meadows Golf and Country Club to name a few — enjoy a day on the links in no time, plus Ottawa International Airport is just a few minutes east of the community.
