Winnipeg streets light up with dark characters on Friday and anyone who likes sugar will be handling fingers full of candy, in Halloween homes.

Front yards can be funny and frightening at the same time. If your yard is full of props like body parts, graves or blood-soaked zombies, keep your property clearly marked. There’s nothing like falling in an open grave with your heels on.

And whether you live on a busy street with bustling traffic or on a quiet cul-de-sac, remember to watch for kids crossing the street. Keep a house light on at the entrance and if you have reflectors, get the trick-or-treaters to wear them. Scary is fun but so is safety.

Good ghouls are on Goblin Boulevard in Winnipeg this week. And on Dracula Drive and Sinister Street. Halloween is always a good time in this city. When you’re little, it’s the excitement of going door to door for the promise of filling your bag with treats. When you’re grown up, it’s the delight of dressing up and making your house the best on the block.
