As we recently reported, Toronto's East Bayfront area is undergoing a huge revitilization, with new condominiums, businesses and public spaces underway. Great Gulf recently celebrated the official launch of Monde Condominiums, the first residential condominium to break ground in this emerging neighbourhood.

With design by award-winning architect Moshe Safdie, Monde will become one of the most sought-after addresses in Toronto's East Bayfront. Monde marks Safdie's first residential project since Habitat 67 in Montreal, an architectural landmark that is one of the most highly recognized buildings in Canada.

Safdie attended the event and expressed his excitement about his collaboration with Great Gulf and Toronto's next up-and-coming neighbourhood: "I have to say that one of the elements that made this particularly enjoyable and significant to us is the presence of a powerful urban design plan. Waterfront Toronto's plan for the East Bayfront considers the public realm, how buildings relate to each other and how this place becomes a district beyond the individual buildings... We're delighted that Monde Condominiums is a contribution to a greater picture of what East Bayfront will become."

The 44-storey tower, located on Queens Quay East, will be in close proximity to the kilometre-long boardwalk along the waterfront, and two signature parks, Sherbourne Common and Sugar Beach. Safdie's architectural work includes unique perpendicular balconies that allow residents panoramic views of the lake and city. Award-winning Cecconi Simone was enlisted for the unit interiors, which include nine-ft. ceilings, hardwood flooring, custom cabinetry, granite or Corian countertops, and under-cabinet lighting. The building's amenities include pool-side cabanas by the outdoor infinity-edge pool, a private park, fire-side lounge, and ground-floor retail.

The project will be complete in 2018. Register online to receive more information.
