What’s happening Calgary’s University District goes to the dogs! And it happens every year. The annual Tails & Treasure event showcased the charms of this rapidly growing urban centre in northwest Calgary and all it offers to our furry friends and their humans. The event on June 18 featured shows from The Global Pet Foods SuperDogs, local music from The Rondel Roberts Band and a smooch your pooch photo booth! The vision to transform the 200-acre community is quickly coming to life and its two off-leash dog parks are a big part of life here. Genesis’ Lewiston community breaks ground

Genesis Land and its builder partners broke ground in Lewiston, a new mixed-use community going up in the Keystone Hills area of northeast Calgary.

The Northeast Calgary neighbourhood, with an expected population of more than 3,500 residents, helps with housing affordability while showcasing best practices in environmental and sustainable development, including a 30-acre park built around a wetland.

“This is a big day for Genesis as we look to launch the first of our next generation of communities, which are not your parents’ suburb,” said Iain Stewart, CEO of Genesis Land. “They are greener, more complete, compact, scaled to pedestrians and inclusive to people at all stages of life.”

On hand at the event were founding builder partners Genesis Builders Group, McKee Homes and new to the roster, Sterling Homes. They were joined Ward 3 area Councillor Jasmine Mian and Genesis’s executive leadership team.

2023 Children’s Hospital Lottery Home

Homes by Avi is celebrating its 45th year in business but, as usual, it is the public that gets the gifts. One of these gifts is the 2023 Alberta Children’s Hospital Lottery grand prize home, and it promises to be the best one yet.

This year marks Homes by Avi’s 11th year as a proud builder of the lottery home in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The $1.4 million grand prize home is located southwest of Calgary, in tony Aspen Spring Estates, and the winner also gets $100,000 in cash and $10,000 gift card to Barbecues Galore.

Vered Amir, Homes by Avi’s Director of Sponsorship & Community Engagement, says this is just one of several instances the builder gives back to the community.

“As a home builder that physically builds our communities, it’s hospitals like the Alberta Children’s Hospital that we rely on for providing the best healthcare to those that require it,” she tells Inside Calgary. “By supporting the Alberta Children’s Hospital Lottery, advancements in healthcare technology are possible, which provides the vital piece in creating healthy communities, a main sponsorship pillar for Homes by Avi.”

The builder will also be opening its $1.2 million 2023 Stampede Rotary Dream Home soon, which promises to be something special. Watch this space and our social media feeds for more.
