What’s happening Summer is fast approaching and in Calgary that means one thing! Stampede! And this year is shaping up to be one to remember with the out-of-this-world culinary line-up awaiting visitors.
The 2022 Calgary Stampede has cooked up a new menu that brings creative, daring, and spicy twists on traditional Stampede favourites. Over 40 new items are making their debut including Waffle Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches, Honey Habanero Ice Pops, Lemon Meringue Lychee Lemonade, Pig-kle Sandwiches, Cookie Dough-Nut Cookie Dough, Bao Baos, Unagi Sushi Tacos, and even Octopus Rangoon and Cricket Hot Dogs (which is exactly what it sounds).
But don’t worry – old time favourites like corn dogs, cotton candy, and mini-donuts will still be around. There will be something for everyone on the Midway at Stampede 2022, July 8-17. Find out more at Calgarystampede.com

Seton West opens show suites
Logel Homes continues to impress as they opened six new show suites for their Seton West condos in the booming southeast community of Seton. It is Logel Homes’ third development since the developer started five years ago.
Their first development, Auburn Rise, in nearby Auburn Bay, opened four years ago and is now all but sold out, and their Sage Walk in the northwest community of Sage Hill is also selling strong
“Seton West building is our 50th building completed (since starting as Cardel Lifestyles back in 2002), and we have close to 500 condos and towns under construction today,” says Logel Homes CEO, Tim Logel. “We recently turned over our 4,500th condominium and townhome,” he adds
Logel Homes started Seton West a year and half ago and recently commenced sales for its fourth building. It is one of the top selling developments in the city with 2/3 of the current phases sold out. There are two more phases to come.
For two consecutive years, Logel Homes has been named Multi-Family Builder of the Year (large volume) at the BILD Calgary Region Awards. Their award-winning condos can be seen in Seton West. Go to logelhomes.com for more.
Trico Homes Wayne and Eleanor Chiu in Alberta Business Hall of Fame
Wayne and Eleanor Chiu were inducted into the Alberta Business Hall of Fame Southern Alberta last month. They, along with this year’s three other inductees, were recognized for their lifetime achievements and service to the economy, community and its future.
The Chius co-founded Trico Homes as immigrants from Hong Kong. Wayne is the founder and CEO of the Trico Group, and Eleanor is his spouse and business partner. They immigrated to Canada in 1982 and 10 years later started Trico Homes, which is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year.
Almost as important as the business has been their philanthropy, and in 2008 they launched Trico Charitable Foundation. They are advocates for affordable housing and have made many contributions to non-profit organizations, local First Nations and the post-secondary community.
Painted Sky’s colorful lifestyle
The first blush of development is settling in on Qualico Communities’ new Painted Sky community. Located in Langdon, just east of Calgary, Painted Sky is doing brisk business as pre-sales begin in the first phase, even as a new high school in town starts construction.
“The first phase is a Qualico exclusive phase,” says Nina Wulder, Communications and Marketing Coordinator, Qualico Communities Calgary. “Homes will solely be built by Qualico builders, including Broadview Homes with front-drive homes from the mid $600,000s; Sterling Homes’ front-drive Wide Shallow models from the low $600,000s; and NuVista Homes has laned models from the mid $500,000s.”
She says people who purchase in Painted Sky can get a much larger lot and a bigger home for less money. “We anticipate triple car garages being the norm in this community,” Wulder says. Additionally, the first 30 buyers in the community will receive a Qualico Communities exclusive: $2000 credit towards services. Go to paintedskyinlangdon.com/Get-Rewarded for more.
The community of Langdon has announced that construction began on a new High School (Grades 7-12) that is expected to be complete for the September 2024 school year.
